Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) form the backbone of many disaster management systems today. Natural disasters such as landslides, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, chemical spills, avalanches, and forest fires require different technologies to detect and monitor them.
AmritaWNA has gained credibility around the world for advancing technology in various areas of disaster management. The Center has designed, developed, and deployed the world’s first real-time wireless sensor network system for continuous monitoring and real-time detection of rainfall induced landslides at Munnar, Kerala and is currently working on a similar system in North East India.
